Our funders are companies and individuals who care about their community and desire the opportunity to partner with AAA Scholarship Foundation, low-income families and families with disabled students in an effort to create a brighter future for all of our children.

Through the Arizona Corporate Tax Credit Scholarship Program, your company can redirect up to 100 percent of its state corporate and/or insurance premium tax liability to AAA so that we can fund k-12th grade scholarships for children to attend the school that best meets their educational needs – and your company will get a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.

How does it work?

  1. Apply: We will provide you with a short tax credit application to complete and return. We will then submit it on your behalf to the AZ DOR.
  2. Approve: The AZ DOR will process your request and send the approval letter to us. We will send you a copy along with an invoice containing our remittance information.
  3. Earn: Your company will have 20 days to remit payment to AAA in order to earn your approved tax credits.
  4. Claim: Your company will claim your earned tax credits on your next Arizona income or insurance premium tax return. Note that this program has a 5-year credit carry-forward provision for earned but unused tax credits.

When can I apply?

We are currently accepting tax credit applications for 2022 tax credits. Each annual Arizona tax credit application season (the “cap year”) opens on the first business day of July. We are allowed to begin submitting the tax credit applications we’ve collected to the AZ DOR on that day. The cap year will end when all of the credits are claimed, or the following June 30th, whichever occurs first. Please contact our office for a tax credit application.

How much is available?

As of 7/15/22, the AZ DOR reports that $15,055,966 of the $142,113,727 in 2022-23 credits to fund low-income scholarships remains available. For the 2023-24 cap year, we project that $149,219,411 in credits to fund low-income scholarships and $6,000,000 in credits to fund disabled-displaced scholarships will become available on 7/1/23.

Are there other tax credit programs like this?

Yes! Each AAA Tax Credit program has individual regulations determined by the laws of that state and the accountability guidelines of the AAA Scholarship Foundation.
