Does your company owe Georgia state income taxes? Did you know you can easily transform those taxes into state-approved Tax Credits which are then used to fund scholarships for low-income Georgia students who are seeking high-quality k-12 education options?
AAA Scholarship Foundation is a state-approved administrator of Georgia QEE Tax Credits. This is one of five innovative AAA Tax Credit Programs that uses the proceeds of the tax credits to fund educational scholarships for eligible low-income children (up to grade 12).
This AAA Tax Credit Program allows you to redirect up to 75% of your company’s Georgia state income taxes (taxes your company already owes) to AAA – and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit in return! We’re excited to announce that for 2023, companies owing Georgia insurance premium tax will be able to participate, too.
How does it work?
- Apply: We will provide you with a link to a short tax credit application to complete. We will then submit it on your behalf to the GA DOR.
- Approve: The GA DOR will process your request and provide an approval letter to both you and us. We will then send you a an invoice containing our remittance information.
- Earn: Your company will have 60 days to remit payment to AAA in order to earn your approved tax credits.
- Claim: Your company will claim your earned tax credits on your next Georgia income tax return.
When can I apply?
We are currently accepting applications for 2022 tax credits. Each annual Georgia tax credit application season (the “cap year”) opens on the first business day of January. We are allowed to begin submitting the tax credit applications we’ve collected to the GA DOR on that day. The cap year will end when all of the credits are claimed, or December 31st, whichever occurs first. Please contact our office for a tax credit application.
How much is available?
As of March 31, 2022, the GA DOR reports that just over $6.4 million of the $100 million in 2022 tax credits remain available.
Are there other tax credit programs like this?
