Institute for Justice will be arguing one of the most important school choice cases in the past half century before the U.S. Supreme Court

Did you know that the U.S. Supreme Court will be hearing a case about school choice soon? Would you like to show your support for parents having the right to choose the best educational setting for their children? If so, please see below for a request from our friends at the Institute for Justice for pictures of students who are currently benefitting from scholarships to attend private or home schools. Their pictures will be included in a banner that will be held outside the courthouse. No names will be listed or made public. Please see below for more information on how to help the Institute for Justice:

Request from the Institute for Justice:

On January 22, 2020, the Institute for Justice will be arguing one of the most important school choice cases in the past half century before the U.S. Supreme Court. Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue will decide if states may discriminate against religious options in generally available scholarship programs.  We are hoping you can participate in a really cool project with us to help support the case!

After the argument, we are organizing a rally of local students and parents.  To demonstrate how important this case is to parents and their children nationwide, we would like to create a 30’ photo mosaic banner featuring hundreds (thousands!) of the faces of educational choice across the country, that students will hold up at the rally.  (We made one of these featuring students in Arizona for a previous case; a photo is below.)

Schools, parents or organizations can simply send headshots of their students like in the examples below.  Their names will not be listed or made public. We would love to partner with you on this.

Schools, families and organizations can send the photos to us in whatever form is easiest for them; here are some options:

  • Upload them to our Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/request/cwZrNVbHuJDkbKXGvHyX
  • You can email the photos to mbenit@ijactivism.org

If a school needs consent forms to send home with parents, we have one that we can pass along.

We ask that photo submissions be received by Friday, January 3.  As a thank you, five schools that participate in this project will randomly be drawn to receive a pizza party worth $250!

Regards,

Melanie Benit
